Mandarina Duck ‘Work Bag’
Mandarina Duck ‘Work Bag’
Mandarina Duck is an Italian fashion brand founded in 1977 by Paolo Trento and Pietro Mannato. Originally specializing in leather goods and travel items, the brand became recognized for its bold color choices in a market saturated with classic styles and monochrome products. By the late 90s, Mandarina Duck expanded into the apparel market with the help of British designer Jeff Griffin. The well-considered apparel from that time featured in-house, proprietary fabrics which were developed solely for Mandarina Duck. Unique design elements, branded hardware, and advanced fabrication techniques aligned to create a consistent feeling of luxury, utility, and futurism.
This particular bag perfectly encapsulates what Mandarina Duck was capable of during this period, transforming a simple pouch into technical luxury and wrapping it in a beautiful pastel green colour. It features a large main comprtment with divided sections and a wallet-style compartment in the back which opens out fully for easy access to the wearer. The branded tab on the front can be pulled up to present an I.D. card for travel with a small compartment underneath. Even the strap features an unconventional clip system for quick removal. It is easy to see why Mandarina Duck is regarded so highly when so much consideration goes into the smaller pieces.
