Subware Tactical Long Coat - ACRONYM Design

Subware Tactical Long Coat - ACRONYM Design

In 1993, Josh ‘Stash’ Franklin launched his graffiti-inspired brand Subware taking the step from being a graffiti artist to a pioneer of both the graffiti and streetwear movements in NYC. He later opened the popular street store Recon/Nort with Futura2000 in the early 2000s, supplying exclusive apparel and footwear, before collaborating with Nike several times and taking the movement to new heights. Stash summarises Subware as ‘a celebration of other artists’, which is perfectly exemplified by this particular piece.

For the design, Stash sought the expertise of Acronym’s technical designer Errolson Hugh, who were operating as an independent design firm at the time, providing brands with forward-thinking functional designs. It is constructed from a technical nylon with mesh lining and features tactical expandable pockets on the front and comcealed magnetic pockets on the shoulders.

This piece can be seen as a relic from a time where a ‘collaboration’ carried a real purpose for friends supporting eachother and making things happen. This is portrayed in the interior detailing done by Stash which showcases the brands of his close friends and frequent collaborators.

Great condition with minor signs of wear.
