Samonsite Black Label Travel Wear Reading Jacket
Samonsite Black Label Travel Wear Reading Jacket
Originally called the Trunk Manufacturing Company, Samsonite was established as a luggage brand in 1910. From its inception, the company's overriding concern was to simplify the experience of travel and to enhance the comfort and mobility of the individual traveller. In the 1950s, it introduced one of the first lightweight suitcases and in the 1970s one of the first suitcases on wheels. In 1999, Samonsite approached Neil Barrett, who was nearing the end of his time at Prada, with the idea to begin developing a range of clothing that incorporated their practicality into a new collection of Travel Wear, titled: ‘Black Label’.
This particular piece is from the Autumn/Winter 2000 collection of Samsonite Black Label. This jacket is constructed from waterproof nylon on the exterior with a layer of padding and a soft wool interior lining, with a similar look and feel to some of Barrett’s Prada designs. There is a small pocket on the collar designed to hold the small extendable reading light that comes with the jacket. It also features a small pouch that can be zipped into the interior lining to act as a stash pocket or it can be removed and worn separately. There are also 2 standard hand pockets and another compartment on the interior.
Great condition with no flaws - comes with original reading light
