Prada Sport ‘Ice Skater’ Puffer Jacket

The Prada Sport line was launched in the late 90s with the intent of producing athleisure garments with materials and shapes that assimilated the features of ‘technical mountain clothes’. The signature Prada red tag later cemented itself in streetwear culture throughout the 2000s. Only the first few seasons of the Prada Sport line were ever featured on the runway, showcasing a beautiful range of highly technical pieces that clearly separated Prada Sport from the athletic diffusion lines of competitors. The earlier seasons are a favourite of many Prada collectors and design enthusiasts as it displays the perfect blend between technical and sophisticated design that was achieved by Prada in this era. 

This particular piece is an excellent example of Prada’s use of the Sport line for artistic expression during certain season of the early 2000s. The jacket features a nylon exterior with padding for warmth and compartments on the exterior and interior. The main feature is the very unique ‘Ice Skater’ that has been stitched onto the back, constructed from off-cuts of wool fabric and even featuring a branded Prada Sport skirt. This is easily one of the most striking and unique Prada pieces, rounded off with the signature red tab by the hem.
