Prada Mainline Sunset Sweatshirt - S/S2014

Before Miuccia Prada took over the fashion house in the late 1970s, Prada had not been much different from other luxury brands with their products, solely offering a range of luxury leather goods. Miuccia decided to experiment with different materials in order to give Prada a fresh look (Leather had been the most used material by fashion houses at the time). In 1979, Miuccia introduced the first range of bags constructed from a heavy duty nylon material, which had been labelled as an ‘anti-luxury’ material. These ‘anti-luxury’ luxury bags instantly became a hit. Prada later expanded into clothing in the 90s, continuing the use of Nylon in their designs, and have never looked back.

This piece was part of the Spring/Summer 2014 collection that featured a line of artistic sunset graphics on sweaters and shirts. It is believed that these graphics were created to represent the beauty of landscapes around the world that are being impacted by wars and natural disasters.

Good condition with some minor signs of wear and age - some light fading on the front.
