Prada Mainline Silk Crystal Embellished Shirt - S/S2022

Before Miuccia Prada took over the fashion house in the late 1970s, Prada had not been much different from other luxury brands with their products, solely offering a range of luxury leather goods. Miuccia decided to experiment with different materials in order to give Prada a fresh look (Leather had been the most used material by fashion houses at the time). In 1979, Miuccia introduced the first range of bags constructed from a heavy duty nylon material, which had been labelled as an ‘anti-luxury’ material. These ‘anti-luxury’ luxury bags instantly became a hit. Prada later expanded into clothing in the 90s, continuing the use of Nylon in their designs, and have never looked back.

This particular piece from the S/S2022 season is a green 100% Silk shirt that has been embellished with over 1000 green glass crystals. The shirt has an extraordinary shine from the reflection of light from the crystals and is rounded off with the signature Prada logo in the chest.
