Prada Mainline S/S1999 Jacket & Mesh Waist Compartment

Prada Mainline S/S1999 Jacket & Mesh Waist Compartment

Before Miuccia Prada took over the fashion house in the late 1970s, Prada had not been much different from other luxury brands with their products, solely offering a range of luxury leather goods. Miuccia decided to experiment with different materials in order to give Prada a fresh look (Leather had been the most used material by fashion houses at the time). In 1979, Miuccia introduced the first range of bags constructed from a heavy duty nylon material, which had been labelled as an ‘anti-luxury’ material. These ‘anti-luxury’ luxury bags instantly became a hit. Prada later expanded into clothing in the 90s, continuing the use of Nylon in their designs, and have never looked back.

This particular piece from the 1999 mainline collection features design inspiration taken from the sport line with a nylon and mesh construction. There are 2 standard hand pockets on the jacket and branded zips. It comes with a matching Prada waist bag that could be used for valuables or to store the jacket when not in use.

Great overall condition with minor signs of wear and age.
