Prada Mainline Dual-Buckle Wool Coat
Prada Mainline Dual-Buckle Wool Coat
Before Miuccia Prada took over the fashion house in the late 1970s, Prada had not been much different from other luxury brands with their products, solely offering a range of luxury leather goods. Miuccia decided to experiment with different materials in order to give Prada a fresh look (Leather had been the most used material by fashion houses at the time). In 1979, Miuccia introduced the first range of bags constructed from a heavy duty nylon material, which had been labelled as an ‘anti-luxury’ material. These ‘anti-luxury’ luxury bags instantly became a hit. Prada later expanded into clothing in the 90s, continuing the use of Nylon in their designs, and have never looked back.
This particular piece is estimated to be from the 2001-2003 era and features a full shetland wool construction with leather accents. There are 2 contrasting colour hand pockets and 2 gold buckles to secure the jacket at the waist and shoulder, along with concealed button closures.
