Prada Mainline 1999 Sling Bag
Prada Mainline 1999 Sling Bag
Before Miuccia Prada took over the fashion house in the late 1970s, Prada had not been much different from other luxury brands with their products, solely offering a range of luxury leather goods. Miuccia decided to experiment with different materials in order to give Prada a fresh look (Leather had been the most used material by fashion houses at the time). In 1979, Miuccia introduced the first range of bags constructed from a heavy duty nylon material, which had been labelled as an ‘anti-luxury’ material. These ‘anti-luxury’ luxury bags instantly became a hit. Prada later expanded into clothing in the 90s, continuing the use of Nylon in their designs, and have never looked back.
This piece from 1999 is a unique cross-body sling bag. It features a main compartment with an interior pocket that conceals Prada branding. There is an exterior zipped pocket and a small compartment on the velcro strap. Rounded off with signature Prada branding on the side of the bag.
Good overall condition with signs of wear to the zippers and exterior of the bag.
