Founder of Porsche, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, opened the Porsche Design Studio in 1972 shortly after the huge success of the Porsche 911. The vision was to transfer the Porsche principles: ‘optimising the function while reducing the form to the essentials and going beyond the familiar to discover new, better solutions’ away from automobiles and across to different industries. They began with revolutionary chronograph watches and even developed the world’s first sunglasses with interchangeable lenses in 1978. After producing some general luxury apparel through the late 90s/early 2000s, it was announced in 2005 that Porsche Design had entered into a long-term partnership with sportswear giants Adidas-Salomon AG. The aim was to bring Porsche Design’s combination of timeless form and innovative functionality to a new market, creating high-performance luxury sportswear that could compete with some of the largest brands at the time. Some of the most notable products birthed by this partnership are the Porsche Design Bounce shoes and ranges of technical outerwear that experimented with new technologies of the era.
This pair of boots from the 2000s era feature a suede and leather upper with a technical strap and adjustable metal buckle.
