Miu Miu Tactical Stealth Jacket - F/W1999

Miu Miu was conceptualised in 1992 when Miuccia Prada, head of the Prada Group, felt that she required an outlet for more creative and experimental designs that simply would not conform to the style of Prada’s mainline collections. The first seasons of Miu Miu set the precedent of what the brand would become, with an explosion of colour and styles that enthusiasts had not previously seen from Prada, leading to the expansion of the brand into menswear in the late 1990s. Miu Miu also followed Prada’s technical transformation during this period with collections that embraced technical construction and design lines without becoming too sophisticated. The womenswear is still going very strong today, however the menswear line was discontinued in the late 2000s.

This particular piece from the F/W1999 season features signature nylon construction with a slightly padded lining for warmth. It features a tactical stealth pocket system on the front with 2 covers that open to reveal designated compartments and a card holder. There is also a zip running along the exterior of the stealth cover that opens into a larger compartment. This is one of the most iconic pieces from the earlier seasons of Miu Miu and it is the perfect example of the technical but sophisticated design language Miuccia Prada was pioneering at the time.
