Mani by Giorgio Armani Leather Overcoat - 1980s

Mani by Giorgio Armani Leather Overcoat - 1980s

Giorgio Armani founded Armani in 1975 and began presenting ready-to-wear collections until the early 1980s when the first diffusion lines were created. Emporio Armani & Armani Jeans were both launched in 1981 with the aim of dividing the different design approaches clear individual lines that showcased different styles. The Emporio Armani line aimed to produce a more ‘fashion-forward’ selection of garments that carry the same principles and qualities of the main line, with more unique design approaches. The popularity of this line grew rapidly through the '80s & '90s, becoming one of the leaders of the high-fashion industry by the 2000s.

The ‘Mani by Giorgio Armani’ label was launched in the late 1970s and served as the first diffusion line, with leather pieces like this one being manufactured by Sicons originally, whilst Armani was designing for them. This piece features a full leather construction with a leather belted system that cinches the waist fully. The overall shape and cut of this piece is very similar to the mainline Armani pieces in the 1980s.

Good overall condition with some signs of wear and age and minor marks around the jacket.
