Mandarina Duck Egg Cell Jacket
Mandarina Duck Egg Cell Jacket
Mandarina Duck is an Italian fashion brand founded in 1977 by Paolo Trento and Pietro Mannato. Originally they specialised in leather goods and travel items which allowed the brand to gain recognition for their craftsmanship and outstanding colour selection which set them apart from other brands. By the late 90s, Mandarina Duck realised the potential to expand into the apparel market, employing British technical design specialist Jeff Griffin to consult them and bring their vision to life. The ‘Apparel’ collection was divided into 3 categories: Exowear for outer layers, Mesowear for mid-layers and Endowear for lighter under-layers. Each bad their own sub-category and the pieces were designed to be interchangeable to fit the needs of the wearer. There was a large emphasis on progressing the development of technical fabrics so each of the pieces were constructed from fabrics that had been developed solely for Mandarina Duck.
This piece perfectly encapsulates what Mandarina Duck was capable of during this period, transforming simplistic and minimalist designs into technical luxury and wrapping it in completely unique colours and materials. It features a unique acrylic/polyester blend fabric developed by Mandarina Duck. There are 2 inverted egg cell cargo pockets. It is easy to see why Mandarina Duck is regarded so highly when so much consideration goes into the every piece.
