Le Coq Sportif Stealth Pocket Hoodie
Le Coq Sportif Stealth Pocket Hoodie
Le Coq Sportif was founded in 1882 by Emile Camuset and is one of the oldest sportswear brands in existence. It wasn’t until 1929 that their first catalog was released with pieces made specifically for cyclists. They also pioneered the creation of the ‘sweatsuit’ in 1939, dubbed by the french as “the sunday uniform”. By the end of the 20th century, Le Coq Sportif were one of the leading sportswear companies in the world, developing new lines for every sport - particularly Football.
This particular poece is from their line of casual sportswear which takes direct inspiration from many of the Stealth pieces from the early 2000s featured on this page. It may appear to be more simplistic than some of the other pieces but it is just as functional, borrowing key design features such as the pocket styles, pocket placement and the way the stealth cover system functions.
There is a large compartment on the front with zips on each side and velcro along the lining that allows the stealth cover to be secured. When opened, there is one large dump pocket and labelled storage options. It’s great to see how every brand interpreted these pocket systems during the 2000s, with Le Coq Sportif choosing to use it on a piece that is stylistically worlds away from techwear
