Throughout the most impressive 70-year career in fashion, Issey Miyake first opened his Tokyo design studio in 1970 and established himself as a designer who could incorporate influences from every aspect of life into his designs, captivating audiences around the world with every show and building important foundations and platforms for the next generation of young designers to showcase their talents. Everything from fine art to everyday workwear and military styles can be seen in every collection offered by the Japanese designer. Naoki Takizawa was tasked with taking over menswear design in 1994 and followed suit, drawing from the same influences as his mentor but utilising revolutionary materials to bring these concepts into the future.
This particular piece from the 1980s era is a zipped shirt with grey and white stripes and a chest pocket with a concealed button.
