Ermenegildo Zegna Microtene 10,000 Waterproof Jacket

Ermenegildo Zegna Microtene 10,000 Waterproof Jacket

Zegna was founded in 1910 when Ermenegildo Zegna began using his family’s wool mill and looms to create what he described as “the most beautiful fabric in the world”. After gaining initial popularity, through the 1920s Ermenegildo imported the finest materials and machinery to achieve his vision and by the mid-20th century when he passed the company to his son, Zegna was regarded as one of the finest fabricmakers in the world. His sons then saw the opportunity to expand into the luxury clothing industry themselves, starting with made-to-measure formalwear in the 1960s/70s and beginning to open boutiques across the world from the 1980s. Today, Zegna is still regarded as one of the leaders in luxury menswear as the brand is still as dedicated as ever to producing the highest quality fabrics but with a larger emphasis on sustainability.

This particular jacket from the 1990s features a full microtene construction, a unique material with fibres that are 4 times finer than a strand of silk that remains perfectly impermeable even after promlonged exposure to water, but still with optimal breathability. The seams have been taped over for durability and protection. The jacket takes the form of a typical field jacket with 4 cargo pockets on the front.

Good overall condition with signs of wear and age - bottom of the zipper is worn (see pictures) reflected in price.
