Claude Montana Double-Breasted Blazer - 1980s
Before Claude Montana rose to prominence in the late 1970s, Paris fashion still leaned toward traditional softness and classic femininity, but Montana disrupted this with bold experimentation and sharply sculpted silhouettes that had an architectural approach to their design. His early work was defined by strong shoulders and precise tailoring with an unapologetically powerful aesthetic. Claude Montana was instantly distinguished him from his contemporaries and transformed what had once been seen as too severe for high fashion into a new ideal of modernity. By the 1980s, his expansion into haute couture cemented his influence, helping to redefine the decade’s visual language and leaving a lasting impact on contemporary fashion.
This piece from the 1980s is the perfect example of Claude Montana’s design approach, featuring very strong shoulders and a tailored torso that exaggerates the power suit silhouette. It also features a contemporary twist with zipper detailing on both sides of the shoulders, leading down into 2 zipped chest pockets.
Great condition with some signs of wear and age on the fabric.
