Burton Analog ‘Planet of the Apes’ Leather Puffer Jacket 2000s
Burton has been producing the highest quality snowboarding equipment since 1977, when founder Jake Burton Carpenter started the company out of his barn in Vermont. Through the creation of multiple sub-brands, Burton managed to undoubtedly establish themselves as one of the best snowboarding brands around. Analog, another sub-brand of Burton Snowboards, was created in 2001 by Burton’s Chief Creative Officer Greg Dacyshyn and Burton Rider Jeff Anderson. Analog takes an even more technical route with their designs and adds a more experimental element to snow gear. At the time, designers Errolson Hugh and Michaela Sachenbacher (ACRONYM) were operating as an independent design firm, providing brands like Burton with forward-thinking technical designs.
This jacket takes a lot fo direct inspiration from the original ‘Planet of the Apes’ movies, with imagery from the films printed on the interior and detailing on the hood taken from the helmet of General Ursus. It has a full two-tone genuine leather construction on the exterior with goose down padding behind the nylon lining for optimal warmth. There are 2 standard hand pockets for warmth and a stash pocket concealed next to the magnet-secured main zipper. This stash pocket features interior sections for a mobile phone and music player, with a headphone cord channel running through the interior of the jacket. There are also pit zips for ventilation. This is a perfect example of how Burton could incorporate technical features into an style of jacket and were never afraid to experiment with a wide range of materials.
Good condition with some minor signs of wear and age.
