Burton Analog ‘Clone’ Jacket - 2002

Burton Analog ‘Clone’ Jacket - 2002

Analog, another division of Burton Snowboards, was created in 2001 by Burton’s Chief Creative Officer Greg Dacyshyn and Burton Rider Jeff Anderson. Analog takes an even more technical route with their designs and adds a more experimental element to snow gear. At the time, designers Errolson Hugh and Michaela Sachenbacher (ACRONYM) were operating as an independent design firm, providing brands like Burton with forward-thinking technical designs.

There were 2 iterations of the Analog Clone Jacket: the standard edition and the MD edition. Designer and founder of ACRONYM, Errolson Hugh, offered some insight into the design inspiration: “The design itself, although not readily apparent in all black is called the ‘Clone’ because it is loosely based on the armor of a stormtrooper from Star Wars, we were all very into star wars at the time”. The original Clone Jacket developed by Analog featured a Gore-Tex construction with 2 large zipped flaps on the chest, concealing a 5-pocket system on each side - all of which can be seen on the original design sketches. The pocket arrangement has been worked into panels that resemble the armour of a Stormtrooper, with moulded panels on the arms and even the battery pack on the back. This jacket was later reworked by Burton and Sony to include a built-in control panel and storage compartment for a Sony MD Player. The willingness to work with new ideas and technologies shows just why Analog is one of the most important technical brands of the millenium.

Good overall condition with some minor signs of wear and age.
