Burton Analog ‘Black Ops’ Jacket 2005

Burton Analog ‘Black Ops’ Jacket 2005

Analog, another sub-brand of Burton Snowboards, was created in 2001 by Burton’s Chief Creative Officer Greg Dacyshyn and Burton Rider Jeff Anderson. Analog takes an even more technical route with their designs and adds a more experimental element to snow gear. At the time, designers Errolson Hugh and Michaela Sachenbacher (ACRONYM) were operating as an independent design firm, providing brands like Burton with forward-thinking technical designs.

Errolson was able to give an insight into the design of this piece: “Yeah the briefing for this was something like “26 pockets, a detachable wallet, and turns into a briefcase” I designed it thinking it would never happen. The first proto came back with thermo-moulded parts and *lights in the hood* that they had added by themselves!”. This piece also features logo and graphic design by none other than Jeff Staple.

The jacket is constructed from high quality Gore-Tex materials, with taped seams and watertight zippers. There are 18 storage options in total: 3 horizontal chest pouches, 1 large compartment under these, 1 large zipped case which can be secured to the chest with velcro, 2 diagonal chest pouches, 2 clear pockets, 2 large hand pockets, 2 velcro-sealed pockets on the arms, 1 zipped chest pocket, 1 mesh dump pocket and finally one very large compartment on the back with another velcro-sealed compartment inside. There is an LED light system that runs from a battery pack in the chest pocket through to the peak of the hood, which is intended to provide light in front of the wearer in dark conditions. There is also a built-in vent in the collar and ventilation zips on each arm. The jacket can also be packed down into a bag via the large back compartment. The hood, hem and cuffs are all adjustable and the interior powder skirt can be zipped-off when not in use for better comfort. This is another one of those pieces where pictures are simply not enough, it is a true technical masterpiece.

Good condition with some minor signs of wear and age. Missing the removable hard-case and one badge from pocket
