ACRONYM J1WTS-GT
ACRONYM was founded in 1994 when young designers, Errolson Hugh and Michaela Sachenbacher, started their independent design agency in Munich. They began by providing a lot of design consultancy work for clients such as Burton Snowboards and Recon/Subware, before releasing their first piece as a brand: the ACRONYM Kit 1 (2002). Throughout the 2000s Errolson propelled the brand forward with his incredible functional designs for outerwear that has a futuristic build. When looking at ACRONYM pieces through the years, it is easy to see that they are the pinnacle of technical design.
This particular jacket is no exception: the J1WTS-GT is a wide-fit evolution of the original iconic J1 line, constructed with 3-layer Gore-Tex materials to keep the wearer dry and a wider cut that allows for a better fit with insulation layers. It follows a similar design form as the J1A but without the with a frontal flak pocket - opting instead for the signature TEC SYS webbing providing modular attachment points. It still features 2 chest pockets and 2 standard hand pockets, as well as pockets on the arms and a signature Gravity pockets on each arm. An array of zips and buttons on the front allow for multiple styling and wear options, with the signature EscapeZip allowing for a quick release on the main zipper by simply pulling upwards. There is also a zip on the back to improve compatability with sling bags and a sling to carry the jacket when not in use. Features such as the collar magnets, removable Storm Hood, hitch tabs on the arms and fully adjustable hem and cuffs round off one of the most technical pieces in our archive.
